Couch Cleaning

Couch cleaning

Couch cleaners price by seat, by piece or by the hour, so their quotes rarely line up on their own. The same questions put to each of them do.

BusinessIts name, and who you spoke to.
01Which method would you use on my couch?Tell them what it is covered in, fabric, leather or microfibre, and what the care label says.
02Is the price per seat, or for the whole couch?Ask how they count a chaise or a corner piece.
03Will you clean the cushions on both sides? And the back, the arms and under the seat cushions.
04Do you expect these marks to come out?Describe each one, what made it and how long it has been there.
05How long until it is dry enough to sit on?Plan the rest of the day around the answer.
06Is a fabric protector in the price, or extra?Ask what it is and what it adds.
07What happens if the fabric shrinks, fades or marks?Ask about the business's own terms before work starts.
08Is this the full price?Ask whether travel, any mark treatment and any protector are in it.
Ask each business the same questions and write the answers side by side. Printed, the sheet fills one page, with a column for each of three quotes. From couchcleaning.com.au, a concept page.

What changes the price

Size, cover and condition. A large modular couch takes longer than a small couch, leather is often priced apart from fabric, and heavy marks may add treatment time.

Booking another couch or a rug on the same visit can change the price, so mention it when you ask.

Before the cleaner arrives

Find the care label, usually under a seat cushion, and take a photo of it. Photograph any marks too, so you can check them after the clean.

Clear the couch and the floor around it, and keep pets off it until it is dry.

Where to check

  • ABN Lookup, Australian Business Register

Shows whether a business's ABN is active or cancelled, its business type and its GST status, and the Register says the public can use it to check a business before buying.
